Walero’s temperature regulating base layers, come from a desire to protect drivers from the dangers of racing with race underwear that is not only fire retardant but in turn combats the strains of racing to provide a scientifically proven improvement in performance.

With an acute understanding of physiology, Founder, CEO, and Racing driver, Fiona James, was all too aware of the strain that motorsport places on the driver. The physical effort of racing, the heat of the cockpit and inadvertently insulating safety wear that drivers wear can be a dangerous cocktail of factors. So, Fiona set herself the challenge: to find a solution to the heat stress, fatigue and drop in performance suffered by drivers due to heat, whilst also ensuring driver safety wasn’t disregarded!

Fiona strived to find a solution, working tirelessly with some of the best racing drivers around the world to develop a base layer that would not only keep you safe, but keep you cool! With extensive hours of testing with the NASA developed, Outlast technology and feedback garnered from a host of professional racing drivers, Fiona finally created what she had been looking for all those years, and in the ultra-competitive world of motorsport, where tiny margins can make the difference between success and failure, Walero was born.

Since its inception in 2014, Walero has now become the industry standard for technologically advanced racewear with drivers around the globe choosing to wear Walero to enhance their performance at some of the world's most iconic races from the Indy 500 to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and even grassroots racing, meaning everyone in the world of motorsport can benefit from the advanced Outlast, technology found in the Walero base layers.

Walero was founded in 2014 by our Founder, CEO and Racing Driver, Fiona James, who understood the intense strain placed on a driver whilst behind the wheel of a racing car! Her passion for racing was spurred by a track day experience in a Porsche 996 Turbo, and she campaigned varied machinery including a Ginetta G50, Radical SR4 and Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 GT3 through the intervening years up to Walero's launch, before settling on long-distance endurance racing as her chosen field.

A keen equestrian at heart, Fiona previously trained in performance development and launched a company sourcing, selling and training competition dressage horses. Her horse Walero was integral to Team GB winning Bronze at the 2003 European Championships, the team's first dressage medal in 17 years, so it was fitting that the name should be carried over from the saddle to the bucket seat.

Fiona would hone her skills alongside some of the world's top trainers, riders and vets and looked to translate her experience and dedication into combining two of her biggest passions, horse riding and racing and with it, the Walero brand would be born.
