We are sure you all know this but it’s important for your safety and we are required to remind you! Please be aware that motorsports is inherently dangerous and any clothing and PPE you wear will never be able to protect you against all the potential hazards which you might encounter whilst taking part in automobile racing in any capacity.
Protective clothing is not able to protect against all possible hazards which might be encountered in automobile racing. The clothing is approved according to the following FIA standards and designed to provide upmost protection against heat and flame.
We know some of you like your clothes to be skin-tight to show off your hard-won physique! The FIA says that users shall ensure that
garments are not too tight. as this reduces the level of protection. and that the are comtortable to wear under the actual conditions
In order to obtain maximum protection, all the clothing requested in Appendix L (Chapter III, Article 2) to the FIA International Sporting Code (https://www.fia.com/regulation/category/123) should be used. Wearers are warned of the particular vulnerability of the neck, wrists and ankles. The neck, wrists and ankles shall always be covered by at least two articles of protective clothing.
The balaclava and top underwear shall overlap by a minimum of 3cm around the drivers neck, except at the front central line, where they shall overlap by at least 8cm.
The top and bottom underwear shall overlap by a minimum of 7cm around the drivers waist.
As everyone has a different shape, it is your responsibility to make sure this happens and remember the scrutineers can stop you racing if this isn't the case!
Everyone loves branding, not least sponsors, but please make sure that any embroidery sewn directly onto the garments shall be stitched onto the outermost layer only.
The backing material of badges shall be flameproof and in conformity with standard ISO 15025.
Thread used to affix the badge to the garment shall be flameproof and in conformity with standard ISO 15025. It is also recommended that the embroidery thread on badges is flameproof and in conformity with standard ISO 15025.
When affixing badges and signs to the garments, heat bonding shall not be used.
Only the garment manufacturer can use printing or transfers for adding advertising onto the garment. It is necessary to have a certificate from the manufacturer for any garment customised using printing or transfers.
The garment shall not be cut or perforated.
Please note, any advertising or customisation not complying with these conditions will result in the invalidation of the homologation of the garment concerned. The use of garments with invalid homologation during an event may result in penalties for the driver, or even disqualification from the event.
IN CASE OF DOUBT ABOUT THE ADDITION OF ADVERTISING, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.
